Recently, Marvel head honcho Joe Quesada gave a public apology for using unflattering stereotypes in a Captain America comic. Personally, I disagreed with his decision. Controversy is usually good for sales and giving an apology just defeats the purpose. On top of that, when the offending issue gets reprinted they're going to edit the (allegedly) offensive sequence. Again, I think this is a bad move.
Comics at their best (and worst) have always reflected the times in which they were created. Just because an unpopular opinion is expressed is no reason to apologize or change the contents. Life is full of people with different opinions than you, no matter who you are, where you're from, or what you believe. "Put on your big girl panties and deal with it", as they say.
Now that I got that off my chest, let's look at a comic that uses several stereotypes. And let's not apologize for it.
